Lunch & Learn: How XR Experiences in Museums Can Support Equity and Inclusion

Presenter: Kathryn Quigley, Senior Digital Producer, Lawrence Hall of Science; CAM Technology Fellow 2020–2021

Thursday, August 20, 2020 12:30PM–1:30PM

Discover affordances, design considerations and examples of XR experiences (including AR and VR) in museums that promote equity and inclusion. As we move into a new phase of technology, museums can help increase equitable access to XR technology and create experiences that engage and support all learners. This webinar is part of CAM's Technology Fellowship program.

Kathryn Quigley is a Senior Digital Producer at the Lawrence Hall of Science with 10 years of experience developing educational media projects for museum exhibits, classrooms and online platforms. As a San Francisco native, Kathryn’s interest in media began while attending the School of the Arts high school. She later combined her love for media with science education, earning both a bachelors in Geophysics and a subsequent master from UC Berkeley. Currently, Kathryn has a special interest in designing media experiences with a lens of equity and inclusion in formats such as video documentaries, interactive kiosks, AR and VR.
