Under the management of the Head Paintings Conservator, the Assistant Paintings Conservator is responsible for the preservation, conservation, and technical study of the Museums' paintings collections. The Assistant Conservator will also have duties related to temporary exhibitions, integration of conservation information and images into the collections management system, acquisitions, deaccessions, loans, and other departmental activities. The Assistant Conservator performs their duties under moderate supervision.
- Undertakes the conservation and treatment of paintings in the Museums' collection.
- Undertakes the examination and technical investigation of paintings, including with the use of analytical tools such as X-radiography and infrared reflectography.
- Prepares and archives visual and written documentation of treatments and research.
- Participates in preventative care of the collections and loan items during exhibition, storage and transport.
