Assistant Registrar at the Japanese American National Museum (JANM) supports collections team with logistics for incoming and outgoing loans, in-house and traveling exhibitions; with record- keeping/documentation, object handling, rehousing, packing, shipping, insurance, condition reporting, cataloging; with inventorying and coordinating workflow and schedule for installation/deinstallation. Focus is multi-year traveling exhibition, Pictures of Belonging, plus others.
Bachelor’s in art history, history, museum studies, archives, library science, or studio art preferred. Minimum 3 years in museum registration, collections management, exhibitions, or curation. Requires knowledge of, and experience with standard museum registration practices, collections management policies and procedure, object handling, preventative conservation, storing, moving, packing artworks to museum standards.
Strong computer skills critical. Familiarity with collection management system, preferably TMS. Accuracy and attention to detail essential. COVID-19 vaccinations + bivalent booster required.
$21.00-$23.80 per hour, DOE. EOE.
