The Communications Assistant with the Japanese American National Museum is responsible for supporting the Marketing and Communications department, with coordinating production and printing/placement of various printed materials and ads; assisting with PR/media, marketing partnerships; posting JANM events and exhibitions to external sites. Includes media research, responding to media inquiries, communication with other cultural institutions, selecting and organizing photographs, assisting with social media and other digital platforms. Occasional evening and weekend hours required.
Bachelor’s in Marketing, Communications or English preferred. Two years experience coordinating production of printed materials, ads, working with PR/media. Knowledge of Japanese American history and culture a plus; sensitivity to issues of diversity and ethnicity is essential. Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, Internet and web tools; Adobe Photoshop or other image editing . Adobe Illustrator and InDesign experience a plus. Must be fully vaccinated + Boosted for COVID-19. EOE.
