Curatorial Assistant (Park Interpretive Specialist, Part-Time)

The Curatorial Assistant is a seasonal “Park Interpretive Specialist” position.  Employee will function as a curatorial assistant, responsible for unpacking, inventory assessment, handling, cleaning, cataloguing, object photography, moving, and rehousing of museum objects belonging to Capital District, at the off-site collection facility.  Will report to the Curator I.  Knowledge of object handling and cleaning procedures, and basic principles of conservation, are needed to carry out assigned responsibilities.  Bachelor’s degree is required.

The reporting location for this position is the Statewide Museum Collection Center (SMCC), located at 4940 Lang Avenue, McClellan Business Park.  There may be occasional assignments at other units in Capital District. This is a year-round, part-time position, generally scheduled 125 hrs/month. Pay range $16.07-$19.49.
