"A Reason To Survive" (ARTS) is a creative youth development nonprofit and community art center serving youth and young adults across South County communities of San Diego. Established in 2001, ARTS has served thousands of youths and families through high-quality arts education, community-based projects, and supportive services. Creative Youth Development (CYD) is a framework that puts young people at the center of their lives, and, through exposure to the arts and access to high quality teaching artists, fosters artistic skill-building as well as positive relationship-building with self, peers, and caring adults. In the CYD context, youth arts programming and projects are a catalyst for building connections within the community and with the world at large.
