The Marin History Museum in San Rafael, founded in 1935, is seeking an Executive Director to oversee and guide museum activities and expand support and awareness of the organization’s activities and role within the community. The ED reports to the MHM Board of Directors and manages a staff of six employees and lead volunteers. The position is part-time to start, at a rate of $45 per hour, with a flexible schedule and paid time off.

Essential responsibilities of the ED include leadership and administration, marketing and public relations, oversight of facilities, and financial management of the organization. The ideal candidate possesses higher education credentials with applicable area of study, experience managing a nonprofit organization or cultural institution, fundraising experience with proven track record, a high level of initial and drive, and excellent communication skills. The candidate must also have experience using contact management systems and various social media platforms.
