The San José Museum of Art (SJMA) has an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources Manager, who will be a part of a small team of creative and dedicated museum professionals.

The Human Resources Manager will be a leader in shaping the professional human resources vision for the Museum’s future, a key element of SJMA’s new Strategic Plan. They will be responsible for envisioning and overseeing the strategic objective to become known throughout SJMA’s community as a uniquely collaborative and empathic institution, internally and externally. Additionally, SJMA is dedicated to being accessible and welcoming for our majority-minority community, and will be developing an institution-wide Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) plan.

Reporting to the Executive Director, and a member of Senior Staff, the Human Resources Manager is directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of the human resource function in a newly formed department, with demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Responsibilities also include general, office administrative duties, and those related to on-and off-boarding activities. The position exercises considerable independent judgment to select proper courses of action, and must be able to work independently, use initiative, and make substantive decisions quickly.
