On-Call Educator, Noah’s Ark and Family Programs
Skirball Cultural Center
Los Angeles, California
The Skirball Cultural Center seeks dynamic and friendly on-call Educators to facilitate public programs within Noah’s Ark (the Skirball’s interactive exhibition for children and families), the Archaeology Dig, and other outdoor spaces.
On-call Educators are part of a collaborative team that implements participatory programs for families of all types, especially those with young children. They facilitate family learning through activities such as full-body puppetry, movement, percussion and singing, cooperative games, storytelling, and art-making activities. They also serve as hosts within the gallery, imparting key Noah’s Ark messages and helping to maintain a safe, orderly, and welcoming environment. As needed, they co-teach inquiry-based Noah’s Ark school programs designed for Pre-K through Grade 5 students. They support all aspects of family programming, indoors and outdoors, as needed.
On-call Educators report to the Assistant Director of Noah’s Ark and Family Programs. The position is scheduled on an as-needed basis, primarily on weekends and holidays. There are also occasional weekday shifts during morning school programs, afternoon public hours, and employee trainings.
