San Diego, California

This position is responsible for all aspects of registration for the cultural resources (i.e. collections) stewarded by SDMoM which include approximately 75,000 ethnographic items, 300,000 archaeological items, 25,0000 photos, 300 linear feet of archives and 6,000 Ancestral remains. The registrar shall also manage incoming and outgoing loans, coordinating with department staff around the museum’s NAGPRA compliance program, and assisting with museum and department-wide decolonization initiatives.

In addition, the museum is currently working through the first comprehensive inventory performed in nearly 50 years. The Registrar should be prepared to take a leading role in this initiative, helping to ensure the progress of the project as well as resolving the diverse registration inconsistencies that represent more than 100 years of collecting history.
