Staffs and oversees the Wisteria Cottage gallery at the La Jolla Historical Society’s admissions desk, supervises volunteer docents and point of sale system. Manages desk with focus on customer service, ensuring visitors are attended to professionally and promptly. Coordinates the support of volunteer gallery docents. Advises management on operational issues and opportunities to improve visitor experience and amenities. Promotes membership and publication sales, participation in education programs and community events. Communicates with visitors to ensure a positive Museum experience and resolve any concerns and issues to their and the Society’s satisfaction. Other duties as assigned; administrative, operational, or support of programs/special events.
Part-Time, 20 hours per week plus occasional evenings and weekends; normal work week is 5 hours per day, 11:30am - 4:30pm, Wednesday through Saturday. Compensation: $16.50/hr.
Bachelor's degree required plus experience in customer service/visitor services; preferably in museums, the cultural sector, or tourism guest relations environment.
