How to Apply – Applications for Round 8 closes September 30, 2021

The application is now open and be live through Thursday, September 30, 2021. All applications go through Lendistry, a technology partner that hosts and manages the portal for the grant application, as contracted by CalOSBA. Lendistry is the grantor of the funds for the program, and it is the entity that will make grant payments to approved applicants.

The California Association of Museums (CAM) has no input or influence on the application or scoring. CAM has been selected as a community partner because of our intimate knowledge and connection to the California museum community. Applicants will receive all notifications from Lendistry on the status of their application and requests for business information and supporting documents.

The application used for the Arts & Culture round is similar to the small business application. As a result, we strongly encourage you to join one of our webinars to learn about the best ways to navigate the application as a nonprofit cultural organization. Unlike grant applications museums traditionally complete, this application requires very little narrative and is similar to applying for a bank account or loan. To support the efforts of your museum, CAM will also host an active phone line and email to address the most frequently asked questions.

Tips in Getting Started:

  • Determine who will apply on behalf of your organization and what email you'll use to complete the application. Duplicate applications will result in problems and may delay or result in failure to fund. The right person to apply is authorized to make financial decisions on behalf of the organization and may be an organization President/CEO/Board Member and should be listed on the organizations Statement of Information filed with the Secretary of State.
  • Use a NEW email address if you applied in an earlier round. This ensures that your application does not get tangled behind the scenes.
  • Collect documents that you'll need as part of the application process including your organization's Form 990 (nonprofit tax return) and the photo ID of the representative applying on behalf of your organization.
  • When the application goes live, always work on the application in the Google Chrome web browser. It is recommended you clear your "cookies" and disable any popup blockers prior to beginning an application in a "incognitio" window to avoid technology glitches when the server has many users.
