How do I register for the conference?

Online Registration is now closed. If you are planning to register in person, please complete this Intent to Register form, and print and prepare this Onsite Registration document to present at the Registration Desk. The conference is near capacity, and onsite registration is not guaranteed.

How do I receive member pricing?

On-site Registration: CAM staff or volunteers at the Registration Desk will confirm your membership.

Member pricing is applicable to Engage and Lead Individual Members (15% discount) and employees of Institutional Members at the Engage (15% discount) and Lead (20% discount) levels. If you believe that your institution is an Engage or Lead Institutional Member, and you are not seeing the correct member pricing on your account, please contact Michelle Rader at [email protected]. Review the 2023 Pricing Sheet for reference.

If you are not yet a CAM member, and you would like to join and receive member pricing for conference registration, please visit our Membership page to review benefits and join online. Once you join, it may take up to 24 hours to see member pricing reflected in your registration. Please contact Michelle Rader at [email protected] with questions about membership and joining CAM.

I have registered and paid, but I can no longer attend the conference. What are my options?

CAM offers a generous transfer policy for individuals who find they can no longer attend the conference as planned. If you'd like to transfer your registration in full to another individual, please reach out to Michelle Rader at [email protected]. CAM is not able to divide a single registration among multiple people.

If you would like to cancel your registration without transferring it to another individual, please review our refund policies:

  • For cancellations greater than 60 days before the conference date, a full refund less a $25 processing fee is offered.
  • For cancellations between 30-59 days prior to the event, half of the registration will be refunded.
  • For cancellations less than 30 days before the event, no refund will be provided.

We understand that emergencies occur and situations may arise. In situations of medical and family emergencies, CAM will do our best to provide a refund less a $25 processing fee. Documentation may be requested and we kindly ask that this policy not be abused. Contact Michelle Rader at [email protected] to cancel or transfer your registration.

What can I add on to my conference registration to make the most of my time in Oakland?

As of March 2nd (this section will be updated as the program is finalized):

All registration options allow for the ability to add on the following activities:
  • Pre-conference workshops (Wednesday, March 8th)
  • Post-conference tours with participating institutions, to be announced (Saturday, March 11th)
  • Free Admission to local museums, to be announced (Wednesday, March 8th - Saturday, March 11th)
  • Evening events (Wednesday, March 8th and Thursday, March 9th)

Dialogue Lunches and Director's Lunch (Friday, March 10th), only available for Full Registration, Student Registration, Single Day Registration Friday, and Events & Workshops ONLY

We recommend registering for add-on events and workshops online in advance (beginning January 18th). Tickets can be purchased at the Registration Desk on-site at the conference, but please keep in mind that ticket availability will be limited, and activities will sell out!

Please view our Conference Program page for more details about these activities.

Will the conference have virtual/hybrid components if I cannot attend?

CAM strives to offer accessible programming, but the scale and scope of this event is challenging to record or livestream. As with years past, CAM will continue to offer free Lunch & Learn webinars in the summer - conference attendees are surveyed on their most valued/favorite sessions, we invite the speakers to come back in the summer and present their session again, so their content can be more widely available. They are also recorded and catalogued in our Lunch & Learn Archive.

Where will the conference be held?

CAM 2023 will be held in Oakland at the Waterfront Hotel in Jack London Square, overlooking the Oakland Inner Harbor, and on Thursday will also be holding some program events at Bloc15, an event venue space a few minutes away. Please refer to our Preliminary Program page to see where sessions are being held. The hotel room block has limited capacity, so book early via our custom reservation link to guarantee your space. Tiered pricing options are available on a limited basis. The final day to book is February 17th, 2023.

More information about transportation and local Oakland attractions can be found on out Hotel and Transportation page.

How do I get into the conference?

As of March 2nd (this section will be updated as the program is finalized):

All registered attendees MUST check in at the Registration Desk off the main lobby of the Waterfront Hotel to pick up name badges and any tickets for additional program items upon arriving to the conference. All we need is your name at the Registration Desk (no confirmation receipt required). There will be a temporary Registration Desk at Bloc15 on Thursday March 9 beginning at 8:30AM to collect a temporary nametag, but attendees will need to finalize check-in at the Waterfront Hotel. If you're already staying at the hotel, we highly suggest checking in at the Waterfront registration desk before making your way to Bloc15.

Registration Desk Hours*:

*Subject to change

How do I change the information listed on my name badge and in the registrant roster (name, professional title, affiliated organization)?

Prior to February 17, 2023: You can change this information by editing your CAM account online (after signing in at calmuseums.org, click your first name in the upper right-hand corner of the homepage; click the pencil icon in the upper left-hand corner of a section to edit it). Please contact Michelle Rader at [email protected] if you need assistance.

After February 17, 2023: After the online registration deadline of February 17, 2023, name badge printing will commence, and requests for changes are not guaranteed. Staff and/or volunteers at the Registration Desk may be able to re-print your name badge if it is not accurate upon your arrival to the conference.

CAM will be including pronouns on conference name badges for those who wish to list them. In order to ensure your pronouns are listed on your name badge, please complete the optional question during conference registration. If you have already registered and you want to add or edit the pronouns that will be listed on your name badge prior to February 17th, use the steps listed below to edit your registration. After February 17th, the same policy listed above applies.

If your change results in a lesser cost (i.e., changing your registration option or removing an activity), please contact Michelle Rader at [email protected] prior to making the change. CAM staff will utilize the refund and transfer policy to determine a refund if applicable and help process the change to your registration.

I am a nursing caretaker. Will there be a place for me to nurse or pump?

CAM will have a secure room available for nursing caretakers. Please inquire on-site at the Registration Desk for details.

I have a question that is not answered here. Who do I contact?

Please contact Michelle Rader, CAM's Administrative Manager, at [email protected] if you have additional questions or if you need assistance with conference registration.
Please contact Rochelle Hoffman, CAM's Program Manager, at [email protected] if you have additional questions or if you need assistance with programs or events.

In the weeks leading up to the conference, please expect a delay in response. If your question is not answered via email, please visit the Registration Desk at the Waterfront Hotel beginning on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 (Rochelle and Michelle will likely be nearby!).
