Unfortunately, AB 1984 was held in suspense in the Assembly Appropriations Committee.  We are working with Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia to explore our options and determine how to best move forward.  We will provide additional information soon. 

Update 5.21.2018

AB 1984 is currently in the Assembly Appropriations Committee. The deadline for the bill to be heard is this Friday, May 25th. If your Assembly Member is a member of this committee (click HERE for a list of committee members and their contact information), please contact his/her Sacramento office by this Friday to ask them to move the bill through the Appropriations committee and onto the Assembly floor.

The following legislators are co-authors of AB 1984, or have made a commitment to be a co-author: Assembly Members Mathis, Reyes, Rubio, Caballero, Stone, Holden, and Senator Allen.If your Assembly Member is not listed here, please call their Sacramento office and ask them to co-author the bill. Update 5.2.2018
The first hearing for AB 1984 was April 25, in the Assembly's Arts, Entertainment, Sports, Tourism, and Internet Media Committee where the bill passed unanimously with bipartisan support. Special thanks to Amanda Tello-Rawson (San Jose Museum of Art) and Joaquin Ortiz (Museum of Photographic Arts, San Diego) for providing testimony at the hearing.
